Turkey, by suppressing the 15th of July coup attempt, has left behind a massive catastrophe. The coup attempt has moved Turkey to a critical edge. In this historical bend, every actor gained increasing responsibility and duty.

After the coup attempt, some occurrences and the statutory decrees that emerged with the Emergency Law have created serious concern and anxiety within the public.

The reorganization of the state in the framework of fundamental human rights, the constitution, law and international agreements anda democratic executive will not solely remove the uneasiness on these topics but will also pave the way for the resolution of a range of problems, including primarily the Kurdish Question.

We can turn what the occurrenceinto a chance for peace.

This process has showed that it is vital to amplify democratic politics. The synergy of the societal sensitiveness against the coup must be reflected to the work of the Turkish parliament. The normalization process within the parties must be enhanced and sustained. In parliamentary work there should be no discrimination amongst parties. By this means, the discriminatory manner against HDP (Peoples Democratic Party) must be revised.

Conflict, attacks and military operation, in an era when the country is in a critical threshold, enlarges apprehension and deepens chaos. By this means, the scaling up of armed action creates a deep worry in the public. These actions must immediatelystop.

The Peace Foundation is calling to develop a democratic groundwork primarily for the resolution of the Kurdish issue and turn the recent events to an opportunity to attain peace.

In behalf of Board of Directors of Peace Foundation

Chairwoman Ayşe Soysal
