The Peace Foundation has broken new ground. Report on the role of NGOs in the Resolution Process was released.

The report titled "Non-Governmental Organizations at the 2013-2015 Resolution Process", which we started in May 2017, has been completed. The report was prepared by CumaÇİÇEK. RehaRuhavioğlu and Veysi ALTINTAŞ conducted field research. Alev ERKİLET, Bekir AĞIRDIR and Etyen MAHÇUPYAN contributed as a consultant.

In the report, you can find an analysis of NGOs' works on peacebuilding and an analysis of their positions and capacities during the Resolution Process. At the same time, proposals for non-governmental organizations and political actors for the development of a new peace process are included in the report.

During the study, a total of 48 people were interviewed;45 representatives of NGOs, 11 of them in Ankara, 10 in Istanbul, 13 in Diyarbakir, 11 in Van, and 3 experts working on NGOs,1 in Diyarbakır, 2 in Istanbul.

 

 

The report begins by presenting a theoretical framework regarding the building of peace. The second part deals with the layers of the negotiation process. Next, a general evaluation of civil society and conflict resolution in Turkey and a wide range of NGOs that working in the years 2013-2015 are analyzed. In the next section, an evaluation of NGO activities which carried out in the Resolution Process and at the same time common aspects of NGOs working in the Resolution Process are identified. In the conclusion section, there are proposals for negotiation and reconciliation in the Kurdish Issue, as well as suggestions for the role of NGOs with respect to resolution and reconciliation.
