The war in Syria, which has been going on for 9 years, acquired a new dimension. The USA told that it would withdraw its’ military from Syria. Turkey launched its’ long-planned military operation at the east of Euphrates.
Turkey has entered a difficult and troubled process. Also the society is anxious. There has been some concerned statements and calls for sobriety by the representatives of the countries both in the Middle East and in other parts of the world.
The military intervention in Syria which has been led by anxiety and political will would cause long-lasting hostility between us and our neighbours. It will cause the extension of hostility between the ancient people of our region, namely Turks, Arabs and Kurds.
Moreover, war means death and destruction. Throughout history, war has never provided a permanent solution to the problems. The military intervantion would cause further increase in Turkey’s problems as well as it compels Turkey to search for partnership with different countries.
The preferable choice for the solution of the problem would be dialog and negotiation with the interlocutors and peace rather than creating a “safe zone” which would mean interfrence to the right of sovereignty of Syria.
Lets raise the voice of peace all together.
